When you get married, it’s a lot like Christmas. Your friends and family will help celebrate the milestone, often by pitching in on some much-needed goodies. This is especially true if you have or plan to buy your own home. Creating a wedding registry can be overwhelming, which is why we’re here to help you stay on track. Keep reading for 10 items that every couple should register for!
1. High-Quality Bedding
So many brides and grooms overlook this staple home item! Bedding is expensive, especially if it is made of decent materials or fabric. Even more so depending on the size of your bed. We recommend asking your family and friends to pitch in. On everything from pillows to shams, sheets, a skirt, as well as a duvet and cover.
2. Durable Cookware
Who knew pots and pans were so expensive?! But they are a necessity. You’ll want to be able to whip up a fresh and tasty meal in your new home. So do your research and find a high-quality set of pots and pans, some cookie sheets, bakeware, and any other kitchenware that your little heart desires.
3. Luxury Towels
It’s time to toss those raggedy towels that you’ve been hanging onto since college. Instead, add a whole heap of Turkish or Egyptian cotton towels. Or even your favorite alternative from Bed, Bath & Beyond. We recommend opting for neutral colors, like dark browns, black or beige. You can even choose white! Cleaning them is surprisingly easy if you know where to pick up bleach.
4. A Vacuum
That’s right, it’s your chance to ask for that over-expensive Dyson cordless vacuum! No joke, these amazing tools cost a pretty penny – and you’ve got bigger priorities. If there is one thing you can almost always bet that your family or friends will invest in, it’s home appliances. Add this, or a brand of your preference, to your wedding registry.
5. Dual Sensor Trash Can
There is something about a dual-sensor trash can that just makes our hearts happy. That and not having to touch an icky handle. Dual sensor trash cans are cool, but they really come in hand. They’re great for couples who love to cook and don’t feel like constantly washing their hands, as well as new parents. You can find a variety of these cans, including options with different compartments for recycling.
6. Serving Ware
If there is one thing you can’t gloss over, it’s matching serving ware. Servingware is an item that every couple should register for! We’re talking flatware, plates, bowls, mugs, glassware, and placemats. Everything you need to play host or just enough for a nice family dinner. It is recommended that you have enough settings on hand to serve up to 8 guests at a time. Just be sure not to forget the wine glasses!
7. A Cutting Board
Say goodbye to thin gross cutting boards! You want a cutting board that is no less than an inch thick and features a beautiful wood grain. These babies make food prep fun, plus they are gorgeous enough to leave out on the counter. Not to mention they will last way longer than any previous cutting boards you have invested in.
8. Luggage Set
This one is a no-brainer. Whether or not you travel frequently, it never hurts to have a durable suitcase set on hand. And, if it’s in your cards, you’ll be able to use it for the honeymoon. When choosing luggage sets, it is recommended that you get a case for under the plane and one that can fit in the cabin. If you like, you can also search for a set with a matching carry-on.
9. Coffee Maker
If you love coffee, and your guests know it, ask them to help you invest in a coffee pot. It will make getting your morning cup of joe convenient, and save you money in the long run. When selecting a coffee maker, be sure to weigh all of your options. Including a Keurig, Nespresso, Cuisinart, and Ninja.
10. Smart Home Devices
Love smart home devices like Apple TV, Ring doorbells, and Alexa? Add them to your wedding registry! Your wedding is a great opportunity to build up your smart home network, from items for home safety to fun and convenience. Be sure to get a good variety going, as you can always buy more later.
